Our mission is to contribute to a better world by moving people to stand up as a conscious leader.

Conscious leadership is leading from within, taking responsibility, creating deep connections, taking risks, creating safety and being vulnerable. It is about knowing, and doing in the moment what needs to be done.

Our work contributes to a movement where leaders make better choices for their company, the people around them, and the world.

Arnout Vos

Arnout (born in 1983) is one of the founders of Rebel Leadership. He has a diverse background, coming from Theoretical Physics, working as a Math teacher, and then as a Strategy Consultant for over 13 years at a big corporate. He co-founded Rebel Leadership in 2019 next to his job as a Strategy Consultant. In 2022 he decided to fully focus on growing the impact he makes through Rebel Leadership.

He has two kids (Sam of 6 and Eli of 2), and a girlfriend Mieke, with whom he lives in Amsterdam. He works 4 days a week, and plays a lot of sports in his spare time.

How do I fit in with others is a recurring theme in my life. From a young age I have been conscious of this, as we moved to a small, close knitted community as ‘outsiders’. For me it resulted in developing a certain independence; mentally I rely heavily on what I am capable of by myself.

There is a downside to it; asking for help is a powerful tool I have learned. Moreover, in a way I was also scared to be part of a group. As if part of my identity would also disappear if I conform to the norm. Those realisations really helped me to act in a much more natural way. To be able to both express who I am, while also being able to being part of a group.

During my studies I felt I missed the human connection in what I studied. That is why I moved more towards teaching and later on Strategy consulting. When I started working at a corporate, I again had to figure out how to be myself within this large organisation. There were lots of unwritten rules about for example how you dress, and how you behave. It took me several years to find a good fit.

The last few years I have also seen younger employees struggle with this. And more than ever also the question of purpose comes to the table, why am I doing what I am doing? What does this contribute? This is such a widespread question that I believe we are in the midst of a transition. It is also plain that there are large scale issues that require a big system transition.

In the end I believe it starts with your own responsibility. How do you choose to lead your life? If everyone does more right than wrong, then in the end the world is a better place. Through connecting with your own emotions, your intuition, we can create more compassion. I think that is the key for leaders to really make a change.

My ambition for Rebel is to help create a movement of Leaders. A movement that contributes to a transition towards more conscious and humane leadership. Thereby enabling society to change the status quo where needed.

Floor Lewin

Floor Lewin works with Rebel Leadership as a coach since 2021. She has been a Leadership & Team Dynamics coach for over 10 years, and has been a coach supervisor for over 4 years. She is a mother of three, a daughter, Julia, and two sons, Kees & Jan, and lives together with her husband Harmen in Amsterdam.

As a young child due to my parents work we had to relocated a number of times. Because of this I had to adapt to unfamiliar settings multiple times. New schools, new neighbours, new sports clubs. It made me develop a keen eye for observation of groups. Figuring out the unspoken rules, who are the leaders in the group, and what behaviour is expected here. In a way figuring out how to fit in became a second nature to me. Those early experienced clearly shaped part of who I am today.

My professional development started as a trainer for teams; working with them to help them collaborate better and achieve a higher performance. I learned that every group is different and each team has its own dynamics. And yet, there are also repeating patterns and a level of predictability which I find very interesting.

In my team sessions it became apparent how much of an impact the team leaders have. However many of these leaders have difficulty recognising their influence, let alone using it effectively. I gradually increased my focus on leadership, and how to make them flourish. I have seen that leaders who know and build on their strengths, core values and beliefs are almost always inspiring & successful. It is their understanding of themselves, their authenticity and intrinsic drive which makes them stand out.

I still feel I learn from every new group or individual I work with. I work with many different people, still if you try you can relate to almost everyone. One of my big take learnings is that when I have a strong opinion about someone, usually I just don’t know that person very well.

At Rebel Leadership I get to combine my personal & professional experience. I have seen & coached hundreds of teams, and I am happy I get to share that knowledge to help people grow. In our programs I do this by bringing both caring and daring, because only when offering both can you truly help people grow.

Lian Ka Tjoa

Lian Ka Tjoa is one of the founders of Rebel Leadership. After a career as a consultant she started as an independent executive coach in 2008. With Rebel her dream to create impact for a larger group of leaders came true. Next to her work with Rebel Leadership she also owns Love for Leadership which is her brand for executive coaching.

I am averse to the idea of uniformity. The idea that everyone has to adhere to the same sort of norm is just not right. I have had this all my life. Leadership requires love, courage and vigor. Most people know the fear of not fitting in, or doing something that is different to the expectation of others. This is one of the reasons changing the status quo is difficult. But change can happen, if you believe in it strongly enough that you are willing to put in the effort, willpower and love to change it.

Rebel inspirators

Within our programs we often work with Inspirators. People who can help challenge our participants’ views, and enable to learn about yourself through the story of someone else.

Rebel story

Coming from three different backgrounds Lian Ka, Sandra & Arnout all shared the same experience and drive of contributing to the world through developing better leadership. We all experienced, and had a strong view on what it means to be a ‘great’ leader, and the challenges people face in becoming this.

Our founding team has a unique mixture of experience & expertise; Lian Ka Tjoa as an executive coach on personal development and becoming more conscious. Sandra Walthes as a Learning & Development expert. And Arnout as a Strategy Consultant, in leading teams, and advising boardrooms of large corporates on developing & implementing strategies that work.

We met through a chance encounter in 2018, and glued together to start up the seeds of what Rebel Leadership is today. A Leadership development company, aimed at moving people to stand up as a leader.
